What Causes Genital Herpes?

Herpes is highly spreadable infections and it is usually transmitted through having intercourse with someone who has infected sores. But it can also be passed on through anal sex and oral sex. People often ask how herpes are caused especially when their sex partner is uninfected. There are many people who are not even aware of the fact that they have herpes, thus it is always important to have safe sex. If the mother has genital herpes during the time of her pregnancy, there is a chance that the newborn might be infected.

What Causes Genital Herpes?

Herpes virus penetrates the skin or the mucous membrane through small microscopic size breaks present in the tissue. Even if your sex partner doesn’t have an outbreak, he/she can still affect you. So, it’s better to avoid sexual contact with someone who has activated blisters.

Herpes infection, which is caused by HSV-1 can be due to general interactions such as eating from the same utensils. If the other person has an outbreak, the chances for you getting infected are very high. Also, there are some chances for you getting genital herpes from HSV-1, i.e. if the infected person has cold sores.

One of the major reasons behind the cause of herpes is having vigorous sex. Typically, herpes are caused by HSV-2 (herpes simplex virus 2). If someone had sex at a very young age, he or she may have herpes. Also, researchers say that people who have weak immune systems are also victims of this disease.

Herpes are caused because of vigorous unprotected sex. And it is very common in females.
